Functional Methods

Developed by an osteopathic doctor, Functional Methods is a treatment modality that allows the body to move into balance and tensegrity. This low force treatment is performed with clothes on and is customized for your individual needs involving the neurovascular, visceral, joint, bursa, ligament, fascial, muscular and bone system.

Functional Methods manual therapy works well for those with chronic issues that may have developed adhesions, contractures or both simultaneously.

A postural assessment will start the session. Together with gentle touch and intuitive healing, this modality assists the body in making its own adjustments. Shifts are subtle at the time of treatment, but can have profound results. Benefits can include, but are not limited to, improvement in bodily functions, movement and range of motion including sports injuries and performance, and have a healing effect for those including trauma and surgeries.

Allow 90 minutes for your first session to include time for an intake and treatment session.
Follow up visits are 60 minutes .

New Patient 90 Minutes $160
Follow Up 60 minutes $135
Please wear comfortable, loose clothing to your sessions.

This modality is performed by Elaine McCann, LMT, SI, who has been a licensed massage therapist since 1993. Elaine was first introduced to this modality from an osteopathic doctor, and after trying it for herself finally found the pain relief she had been searching for. She started her structural integration bodywork journey in 2011 and finds fascination in the art, science and workings of the human body.
